Hola Hasher
,
This
week’s Hash Trash comes to you, courtesy of three die-hard Hashers. The last
Hash was held in Telfita, but it seems the main thing remembered about this
beautiful Hash location was the nearby prison, or as 2 fishes put it:
“The
‘where’ was Telfita - at a nice spot with breathtaking views of
the
maximum
security prison”
and according to Blanka: “Last
Friday’s
Hash next to the prison on the way to Sednaya was very
pleasant,
well attended but uneventful, except for an
unusually large number of
young
male American virgins; no telephones nrs. were volunteered.
The magnificent Paul, once again, laid the trail for the runners, and Dolly led the walkers. Ogunu was duly punished for having sex on the hash, which he refers to as “being wrapped up in conversation during most of the run”. Read it for yourself.

DHHH 20something,
in: where was it again…?? When was
it: last Friday.
The run was as
usual, as proclaimed when so asked by RA Ken 2 (or 1?), anyway, the Charming one
(as some ladies know him). Where was I. Oh yes, the run was as usual: too hot,
too flat, too cold, too mountainous, too long, too much climbing, too short, and
too many thorns and thistles. It's just the serious 'running addiction' that
people have that keeps them coming.
Except the virgins.
There was a high percentage of them as is often the case but most we never see
back. Remember, got to be nice to those people, at least for the first few weeks
until they are hooked, before showing the real nature of
hashers.
I sort of missed
much of the scenery, being wrapped up in conversation during most of the run,
which had been misinterpreted by others as became clear during the circle where
I had the severe pleasure of having to sit on ice.
Some very important
announcements were made:
(1) that there will
again be a hash next week,
(2) that 2 fishes
needs money and commitment (in that order) for the Cyprus hash in October
(you'll regret it for the rest of your life if you miss it when those who went
will keep talking about it forever),
(3) there is another
special hash sometime soon, like 29 July or so (I have the print at home, forgot
the details, check with 2 fishes (copied) and
(4) that the circle
was now ended.
The professor had a
good week because he worked out the meaning of some Rolling Stones song text,
i.e 'walking the dog'. So now he knows (but won't tell you). As a result he had
no time to think of some learnings for all about how to run/walk a hash and how
not to. Anyway, the rules are still changing on a weekly basis.
Some new trail
laying and marking techniques had been tried again this Friday, though there
seems to be convergence towards Generally Accepted Trail Laying
Principles.
It is very
regrettable that Hash Mama was not there, occupied with other business, because,
possibly for the first time in history, we actually managed to get there in
convoy without loosing any cars with people. No doubt, thanks to Hash Mama's
continuous prompting.

A few words on future
hashes:
July 29- Kassab Hash.
Now confirmed as a one night OD hash (the run is on the Saturday morning) but
some intrepid souls may go up a day early (i.e. Thursday) to enjoy a relaxed day
on the beach instead of on the road on Friday. Rafi is taking registrations.
Sometime in August -
Splash Hash, an OD hash somewhere on the Orontes River south west of Homs, major
annual event (third in recent years), can be done as a day trip (with BBQ) or
overnight camp, bring change of clothes (you will get soaked), generally a live
hash following anyone who's ever been there before, running through irrigation
ditches and channels and ending up floating down the river- watch out for
dangerously located tree branches, rocks and panicking dogs trying to get on top
of your head. Omar Sharif reminded everyone to bring their food for the BBQ and
everything they need (including breakfast) if camping. Start at 10am from Al
Jalaa.
September 2- Hash Ball,
Krak. Omar needs a co-hare.
October 14-16- Amathus
1000th Hash, Cyprus- DH3 will be represented (by at least three families plus
Rowdy), I am happy to take cash with me next week (must be paid to me by NEXT
FRIDAY 9 JULY) to ensure registration before their deadline of 14 August (CYP33,
approx. $70). Otherwise people are on their own to sort out bank transfers, etc.
Overall budget estimate approx. $350 pp for the hash program plus travel (flying
via Beirut) and (2 nights) accommodation, I will try to sort out accommodation
next week based on those definitely committed.
