Hash Trash for Run No. 1321 - 4 November 2005

Last Friday's Hash (4.11.) at a new site westwards of Monte Rosa can weatherwise be qualified as a first winter Hash but was as magnificent as promised by the Webmaster, even if he cannot testify to this, as he had hared off to the Hashemites Hash. [where the weather was warm and dry the whole time - Rowdy]

The Hares (Blanka and White Thrashed (by Arthurīs own admission, the least offensive of his 3 Hash names) wisely set the trail the day before - it was raining all Friday morning. But despite Eid holidays, the black clouds threatening more rain and the low temperature (10°C in Damascus), a number of the hardiest hashers turned up at the old Al Jalaa to be led to the site, where they braved icy winds and followed White Thrashed along a trail that turned muddy overnight and, as announced by Arthur, went more up than down, against all laws of nature. The walkers (3 maidens aided by 1 knight) carried the tons of mud clinging to their shoes over a less demanding but no less beautiful trail. About half of the runners (I will not name names) cut short half-way through, but as this option had been generously allowed for by the running Hare, they were not accused of short cutting.

The downdowns administered by '2 Fishes' were hurried through, the sins largely overlooked and ice mercifully not brought - all due to the early onset of winter. The usual derogatory remarks about the run were drowned in exclamations of admiration for the site - a balm for the hares ears. Mardik and Jobish Behaviour were downed downed for some obscure running deviations, and Arthur downed an extra free beer on top of his own oversized ceramic tankard, filled to the brim by his dutiful wife Joan. Rafi was reprimanded for not providing hot wine and soup, but not punished (not even for sleeping in his car during the run), as he rose from a death bed to bring along the promised nourishment such as it was. To make up for the loss of calories, Peter and Zila handed out delicious Syrian sweets. The raffle tickets sold like hot cakes (for the want those perhaps) - thanks Hashers! Those not present, donīt worry, there are more to be had.....
