Less than 20 dedicated hashers turned out for a pleasant amble and scramble in Wadi Barada for run 1356 - a site we haven't used for a while, so it was good to be back.
Hares Wise Pranker, Sawsau and Rindala set the trail up and down dale and in and out of the orchards. It was a question of now you see it, now you don't with the paint - I think the on on from the start was about 1km away. There were plenty of devious falsies too, so at times the runners were scattered to all points of the compass. I gather the walkers had a pleasant stroll through the valley too.
While the stew heated up in the pan, thirsts were quenched and the circle got underway. No virgins or returners this week, so after the hares had received their just desserts (or should it be 'starters') it was straight on to the sinners:
- Richard (Nagle) for desecrating the hash hold by standing on the carefully laid paint
- Rindala showed that she almost knew the words to the down-down ditty
- Jooste for leaving
- Gabrielle, or Ab Flab, for posing and drinking her grape nectar from a wine glass (albeit of the plastic variety) - and then showed her true hash colours by pouring most of the full tankard of water over her head, muttering that she was glad she had put on waterproof mascara! I don't know what else she was expecting to be wet in the middle of summer - maybe tears at Jooste's departure?
Finally Karen gave us a brief lecture on why she was collecting funny shaped rocks - possible fossils some of them?
The post-circle social carried on in pleasant weather - warm and not much wind - while the delicious Porsalian stew was much appreciated.
