Hash Trash for Run No. 1357 - 30 June 2006

About a dozen faithful turned out for run 1357, which was held above Halboun at the spot where about a year ago some 50 hashers participated and enjoyed an extended barbecue. Hares White Trashed, Peter and Zila laid a trail marked intermittently with paint that not even the racing hare could always find - something about it being blown away by the wind. Was the Scotsman being parsimonious with the paint or had he risen to Wise Pranker's challenge to lay the trail with just one bottle of paint? White Trashed protested he had used 3 bottles - ah well. It almost didn't matter as it wasn't far off sunset when we started. Reaching the run site took an hour and then a search party had to go and find Wise Pranker and the beer truck - since no hash can take place without adequate supplies of the amber nectar, even if some of it did hail from Bulgaria.

So we eventually set off about 5.40pm and after much searching for trail and a long downhill on in, returned to the chariots around 7pm, about an hour after the Germany-Argentina match had started. Newcomer Ludy made it round with the runners, ably swept up by Peter, while others decided that just over half way round the idea of a cool drink was too much to resist and headed down hill to the cars. The fact that this decision was made by a spot marked by an old leather jacket hanging from a stake in the ground was apparently not relevant, however ominous it may have been imagined to be.

Back at the chariots, Wise Pranker set about burning some chicken wings, later suitably disguised by Zila's satay sauce and original rice cubes. The circle, with the sun long gone and a cooler wind making itself felt, awarded down downs to the hares, virgin Lucy, returner Salwa, phantom trail layer White Trashed, outta sight sweeper Peter and the mega SCBs.

Gabrielle was christened 'Ab Flab' at the insistence of Lost & Found, picking up on her predilection for the nectar of the gods (wine to you) in an appropriately shaped glass (even if it was made of plastic) that caused her down down the previous week. Bulgarian beer and even some non-diet softies were fitting accompaniments to the charred chicken wings and Zila's culinary contributions.
