Another sunny and chilly day and another good crowd. We left a little late
waiting for Sam to arrive from the Mosque - it seems 15 minutes is not long
enough for him to come (or so his girlfriend says) - needless to say Arthur
punished him for it later.
Arthur's trail reminded me of an old album by the Eagles - "The Long Run".
To be fair there were fewer hills and more paths than we expected, though he
threw in a few dirty tricks, like sending us uphill for the first On On only to
find a false trail. What's worse, he used the same trick at the same place a
year ago (much of the paint was still there). So the question is, is Arthur
doomed to a Groundhog Day of always setting the same trail or are we to blame
for blindly following it? Answers on the back of a $100 bill to my home
please. No major incidents, no dead dogs or live sharks on the trail. Richard
lived up to his hash name "lost and found" a couple of times, wandering off on
his own trail, but he eventually found us again. Rafi made us all wait at the
first Hold check while he stopped to have a chat with the walkers....
For the circle GM Arthur regaled us with many exciting anniversaries, none
of which I can remember. Down downs to Arthur and Paul (hares); virgins Sophie
from Canada (poor girl got 3 down downs - she must have been crossing her legs
on the way home...) and Jarko visiting from Riyadh; returners Ibrahim, Manar
& Sara. As usual Arthur had spotted a long list of heinous crimes which
were duly punished. There were several serial offenders who got more than one:
Sam (for being late and trying to shorten the walk to get the bar open quicker);
Sophie for sex on the hash with Ibrahim and, along with all the other ladies,
for uncontrolled gossiping - Arthur, it's genetic, you can't stop it, not even
with beer! Rafi was the proud recipient of this week's "Guido Award" for only
finding the false trails.
As if we hadn't been punished enough Arthur will set the trail again next
week - in honour of Burns Night, an obscure Scottish hazing ritual whereby the
ears of unbelievers are tortured with gibberish and live Haggis nibble on their
dangly bits. I am looking forward to it immensely.
So, Al Jallaa on Friday, leave at 12:45 (this means you, Sam)
